On “Defeat” Inner Missing comes with a lighter sound in compare with previous albums and has no extreme vocals at all. The abundance of clean guitar parts, variable keyboards and plangent vocal lines create an uncompromising atmosphere of tragedy and devastation; the episodic progressive passages, which were not peculiar to the band’s sound before, bring diversity and make the album more interesting musically.
